GS#3 – Party!

Posted by danielefton on September 4, 2009

Get Sketchy challenge #3 is my first for the weekly challenge blog. And my first truly personal project since March.

I’ve never done a layout from a sketch before, but this was interesting.

This LO gave me no small amount of trouble, but I’m still pretty amped about how well it turned out.

Bottle caps! I’ve been dying to use these things since I started scrapbooking. I was without a hammer or mallet to flatten them, plus I really wanted them to pop off the page. I cheated and cut up Styrofoam peanuts to use as filler for the inside of the caps. and I still had to pull a scrapbooking no-no and used superglue in some spots.

The green snakeskin paper, wanted to tear while applying my E-Z runner adhesive. I got it figured out by using a re-positionable runner instead of the permanent :(

The mask – it was too 3-d for it to stick very well, so I had to use the black circle to stabilize it so it would stay better.

I also had major problems getting the plastic cross stitch canvas to stay.

PRS#2 – Evaluate This

EVALUATE THIS

“I didn’t think I was working for the man, until today. I hate my job: taking 3 months to start my 30 day evaluation, making me work the one day I asked off this year. Fuck That.”

A quick LO because I was feeling it and the Current Punk Rock Scrappers Challenge let me do it. Challenge 2 is I am a Corporate Tool and How.

more acrylics, orange and white on textured black cardstock. Black on the Capital E and the little e because I’m out of black thicker e’s (bummer). But I really like painting my thicker’s anyway.

in hindsight I should have made this one smaller.

STM #77- We Will Rock You

This picture has been nagging me for a couple of weeks. And then I saw the newest Scrapping The Music Challenge – We Will Rock You – and wondered how I was going to participate. The genius that I am decided to be clever and do both!

I was also inspired by the most recent SiStv Forums FREE SHOP opened for a Special St. Patty’s Shop thanks to BlessedinTexas! I bought the items Purple Cardstock, 6×6 LO, and brads (forgot these, added [imgs 2 and 6]).

The picture is of me at about 1 year old (?) on a Christmas present Rocking Horse, that was made for me by my grandfather.

One of my favorite things is the painted cardboard that came from inside a package of lightbulbs. HOW NEAT! And the circles on the left took a while because I don’t have a nifty punch or cut tool. I pulled the acrylics out to paint orange/red/yellow on the cardboard, and the word ROCK. and of course the black and white on the purple cardstock background.

Inchies

Posted by danielefton on March 16, 2009

I found a neat little tutorial right here on wordpress on how to make cute scrapbooking embelishments. On top of them being cute, they provide a great way to use up scraps.

Inchies are so adorable!

I made 144 of them tonight because I didn’t use a puncher, but used my Fiskars paper slicer, and used the whole 12×12 surface of the page. Next time I’ll use a smaller piece of cardstock to cover.

Here are a few of my favorites from this batch.

So awesome

Spring Break ’07 LO

Posted by danielefton on March 15, 2009

The Free Shop was open once again this weekend, and I had to participate.

I wanted to grab things that I normally wouldn’t use, but went for things that I could actually do, and used them in different ways. Newspaper, bubble wrap, and brown/red paints.

I used red watercolor paint on a strip of newspaper comics. The bubble wrap was used as a stamp to apply red acrylic paint to the left side of the page. Brown paint (combined red and green acrylics with water) brushed onto textured white cardstock to make the background.

Journaling: “Daniel, Ashley, Erica, Nick. Pensacola FL. Cruising to a private beach to take photos and do fun spring break stuff.”

Unashamed LO

Inspired by and for the Introductory Challenge at Punk Rock Scrappers

Bleached out Photo of myself, torn edges. Star Sheer Sheet (Maya Road), Photo Decor Bracket, Amsterdam Acrylic Paints (in red, white, black), LAX black glitter chipboard thickers, red alphabet stickers by the paper company. Heidi Swapp runway mask used for the dots down the left side of the page.

Background paper is something that was given to me by Pegasus, was beautiful and allowed the rest of the LO to flow around it.

I am UNashamed! also written with glitter fiskars gel pen – ‘Irrational, foolish, free thinking, organized, happy, inspired, creative, funny, abnormal, gay, loving, whole-hearted, lonely, groovy, misfit, always smiling‘.

Box of Evil LO

Posted by danielefton on March 10, 2009

I think I’m addicted to acrylic paints, and I’m getting more comfortable with ‘white space’

This LO is for RSS Challenge 18, the prompt was Green and this is where it took me. Though I have another idea I want to try, this is my official submission.

Girl Scout Thin Mints have long been a staple in my life – the best there is in a mint cookie. The journaling reads “Cookie Season, Anticipated and Dreaded at the same time. Delicious bites of goodness peddled by girls and their parents – Intended only to make me eat.”

I am bad at diets, these things don’t make it any easier.

Daquiri Thickers in green, white and black were used and painted over with acrylics (stippled with sponge brush). Index card free formed into a shape that I don’t know the name for. Paint sample written on with black Sharpie “Om Nom Nom” Also, obviously used, cutouts from the Thin Mints box.

Miss Carter LO

Another page I made to give away. This one was a bit limited in the fact that the recipient wanted Brown and Pink, and said that she ‘liked a lot of stuff on it’.

I don’t know where the idea to paint a tree came from but I greatly enjoyed doing it, going so far as to purchase red acrylic paint so I could custom blend the pink. I also used red to mix with green to make the brown paint, and then added white for the accent brown (though it turned out more green).

Amsterdam Acrylics, SiS Boutique pink buttons, various papers, my first time using ribbon, some paper clips (so that the photo can be changed). A Dymo plastic label, and lots of name writing with my fiskars gel pens. Also the little tree was cut from a paper bag with little miss muffet on it.

Gives You Hell LO

Posted by danielefton on March 3, 2009

I finally got to play with some of the supplies I purchased last week, and most of it is still spread across my room. I got way messy with the acrylic paints and absolutely loved it.

Click the Image for more photos/details

‘Gives You Hell’ by The All-American Rejects has ingrained itself into my brain, as songs are wont to do. On the drive home I allowed myself to think about the person who would be singing this song to me. Layout hit me in the face and I had to do it while I was feeling the emotion, despite being so tired.

Journaling Reads: “So many years ago I thought you were THE ONE. I was naive (spelling error-crap) then. But still to this day you pop into my mind and I wonder What IF? And I can picture you singing this to me. (ANDITGIVESMEHELL)”

Used Retro Modern Collection pieces from Rainbow Sherbet, Orange You Glad, and blue cardstock.

Also used textured white cardstock, Amsterdam Acrylics in Orange and Black, Random embellies, white plastic canvas (scribbled over with black sharpie), a white Daiquri Thicker ? (colored with red sharpie). Journaling done with Orange and Black glitter Fiskars Gel Pens. The area around the photo has been sponged over with black stamp ink.

Eccentric Therapy Win

Posted by danielefton on March 3, 2009

I feel like I just hit the google jackpot. I decided to Google Blog Search myself, and found some super neat things.

In particular a notice that I won the “Your Slip Is Showing” challenge over at Eccentric Therapy.

Previously posted The Color Of My Envy LO has now gotten two ‘prize’ packages sent my way.

One from the host of the ‘free shop’ on SiStv, and one from the fabulous Trina Curran of Eccentric Therapy. How fantastic.

Another odd bit – This month’s Challenge at Ready_Set_Scrap is Green! I will actually make a new LO for that.
